“Children are our future and what we are doing today for them today, will bring fruits tomorrow”, observed the speakers while addressing the large number of children in Riverside Community High School Achi Kubiyoon, Rohri on the occasion of “World Children Day”. The mega event was organized by the Riverside Development Organization in collaboration with NARI Foundation, Medical Emergency Response Foundation (MERF) and International Rescue Committee (IRC). The event comprised of welcome performance by the RCHS students, speeches by the key speakers, Drawing competition, Tableaus and stalls about nutrition and Nadi Filter. The colorful event was mainly organized for the children, who are always treated as the chief guests at the RCHS.
In his welcome address, the Executive Director RDO Munawar Gill according warm welcome to the children and other distinguished guests, viewed that, observing a single day for the children is not enough and therefore I urge upon the people to always give special treatment to the children throughout 365 days of the year. He also gave brief account of the journey of RDO. Jalaluddin district coordinator on nutrition from Health Department congratulating the children on the great eve of World Children Day, said that, children are special for us, because our nation’s bright future depend upon them. Zaheer from IRC opined that, every day is children day and every child has a right to balanced diet and healthy environment. In this regard academia is playing vital role to keep the children well informed about the healthy and balanced diet plan, he said. Qayoom from MERF appreciated the children for their performance showcasing various aspects of the children rights. He also thanked teachers for preparing the children for a better tomorrow. The drawing competition was won by Akash, who got a trophy for his drawing. Later, fruit was distributed among all the children, besides medals were given away to the children for their outstanding performance in the tableaus. Program Director RDO Nadeem Yousuf praised the children on their outstanding performance and also decorated the distinguished guests with traditional Sindhi Ajrak. M/S.
